Ph.D. and M.S., Environmental fluid Mechanics & Hydrology, Stanford University

B.Sc., Environmental Engineering, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada

Research: Modeling and optimization methods for environmental systems, geostatistical interpolation and inverse modeling methods, atmospheric inverse modeling for greenhouse gas flux estimation.



Specializations and Research Interests
Prof. Michalak’s research interests are in the area of stochastic modeling and optimization methods for environmental systems. Her current research interests focus on geostatistical interpolation and inverse modeling methods, groundwater contaminant source identification, constrained optimization, lagrangian numerical methods, and atmospheric greenhouse gas surface flux estimation. She is also interested in the environmental policy, economic and legal impact and applicability of environmental research.
